I want to say how proud I am of my son Andrew and Guy for all they have achieved so far and would like to add my thanks for all the support that has been given to them by all their sponsors not forgetting family and friends who have been there for them.

I have tried not to be too surprised at anything Andrew has said he'd like to do. When he decided at 13 he wanted to row we found ourselves one cold Sunday in November at Ardingly reservoir - he took to the sport immediately and continued to row all that winter in all weathers. He only really wanted to go to university so he could row! So long as Andrew is physically doing something then he's happy.

I bought a card with Andrew in mind years ago and still haven't given it to him but the words seem very poignant - 'Risk more than others think is safe. Dream more than others think is practical. Care more than others think is wise. Desire more than others think is possible…..And the universe is yours'.

Just to say as Mum I will worry and wish I was rowing along side to make sure you are ok and to check you've cleaned your teeth but seriously I know you will make it and the experience you will have will change you forever. I am really proud of you Andrew and know that your Dad would be too, he would have wanted to do the race too so long as he had an engine!

Andrew and Guy you make a great team look after each other and have fun. Love you loads and I will see you in Mauritius………………………..
